Welcome back to the start of another school year and I hope everyone had a nice ease into the first week!
You may have seen us during Club’s Day or the Street Festival last week where we were accepting sign up for our Mentorship Program. If you somehow missed us (which is completely okay!), we are still accepting mentees through an online sign-up sheet. Please click the following link if you would like to become a mentee:
If you would like to become a mentor, please message Matt Tran (one of our presidents) on Facebook.
If you are new to our mentorship program, what it essentially entails is that we will pair 1st and 2nd years with upper year students that are in a program of interest to the juniors. We are also hoping to establish a social for all the mentors and mentees to meet up and get to know each other personally.
On a different note, we will be having an election for year representatives very, very soon!! Year reps are very integral to our union as they represent their respective years and promote our events to your classmates. They also work behind the scenes with the other exec team members in planning, organizing, and running our academic and social events. Meeting speakers and creating networks is also a great plus that comes with this position! We are a union that encourages the fostering of a supportive life science community by implementing events that can bring our students closer together, so if you feel you are an individual who has a passion for being part of a students’ union, then I highly encourage you to join our family! Please look out for the application for that will come out sometime next week. Elections will be held sometime in the last week of September to the first week of October.
And if you haven’t already, please join our open Facebook group to follow all our monthly academic and social events! Or subscribe to this website for frequent updates on events as well!
